Director of Design

Joshua’s earliest influences in design and the creative process began while working as a young boy in central Arkansas.  With his family deeply rooted in multiple construction operations, Joshua learned hands-on the natural properties of materials and the craft of making spaces by forming concrete, connecting steel, and joining wood at both the custom residential and commercial scale.

In a natural continuum, Joshua received an Architectural Degree from the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design at the University of Arkansas, further extending his passion for design thinking and building construction from the local to the global.  While traveling the world and living abroad, Joshua studied under notable architects such as American architect Marlon Blackwell, Finnish architect Pia Sarpaneva, and Norwegian architects Dagur Eggertsson and Sami Rintala.

Joshua began his professional career in Tennessee with the Memphis-based hospitality focused architectural firm, Hnedak Bobo Group, where he quickly became recognized as a top designer within the city of Memphis, winning multiple awards for (2) boutique hotel projects located downtown on the historic Beale Street.  When firm founder Greg Hnedak left the firm to begin the hotel development company DreamCatcher Hotels, it wasn’t long before Hnedak brought Joshua on full-time, as Joshua’s interest in the architect as developer model became the preferred architectural practice of choice.

As Director of Design for DreamCatcher Development, Joshua is involved with conceiving each specific project’s concept while strategically and objectively selecting meaningful positions for the project’s program given the contextual arrangement of the site.  He is also actively involved in the entire design and construction process and has successfully led the design for a 155-key hotel renovation for the Quinault Beach Resort and Casino in Ocean Shores, Washington.  Joshua is currently leading the design for the development of (2) upper scale DreamCatcher Hotels.
